Paul J. Roach
Paul J. Roach, 88, the retired Fire Chief of the Town of Stoughton, died peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 66 years of Madeline T. (Hogan) Roach.
Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of St. Mary's School and Boston College High School. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a Veteran of World War II.
Chief Roach worked for the Stoughton Fire Department from 1953 until his retirement in 1988. He was appointed Fire Chief in 1961 and held that position until his retirement. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, where he was Past President of the New England Division and the Massachusetts Association of Fire Chiefs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children; Nancy M. Gregoire, Paul J. Roach, Deputy Fire Chief, Stoughton Fire Dept. (Ret.) and Michael J. Roach and his wife Lisa all of Stoughton and Jeanne F. Roach of VA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Monday, October 29 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 11 a.m. Visiting Hours are Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Roach's memory may be made to the Stoughton Firefighters, Local 1512, 30 Freeman St., Stoughton, MA 02072 or Beacon Hospice, 182 N. Main St., Fall River, MA 02720.

Julie Gorman
Julie A. Gorman, 43, of Stoughton, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 22, 2012. She was the daughter of Diane (Comi) Canelias of Stoughton.
Born in Norwood, she was educated in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and was an animal lover.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter Shelby Alexis Robbins of Stoughton, her sister Lori A. Gorman of Stoughton and her brother James W. Gorman of NC. She was predeceased by her stepfather Norman Canelias and her father James W. Gorman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Private family services were held. Donations in her memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.

Olive C. (Clark) Niven
Olive C. (Clark) Niven, 89, died Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton after a short period of failing health. Niven is the mother of Rev. Jean Lenk, Pastor 1st Congregational Church in Stoughton.
Born in Miami, FL, she was raised and educated in Miami FL and Attleboro, MA. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1940. She attended Skidmore College and was a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Olive was a resident of Foxborough for the last 6 years, previously living in Ipswich for 8 years and Wellesley for over 20 years.
She worked in the Library at Wellesley College then in the Admissions Office at Wheaton College and finally at Blackinton's in Attleboro for several years. Olive was an active member of the 2nd Congregational Church in Attleboro where she was a member of various women's clubs and sewing groups and a former member of the 1st Congregational Church of Wellesley Hills. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Olive is survived by her children; David C. Niven and his wife Debra of CA; Andrew L. Niven and his wife Aniceta of Guam; and Rev. Jean Lenk, Pastor 1st Congregational Church in Stoughton, and her husband Peter of Foxborough.
She was the grandmother of Kimberly and Douglas Niven, Nancy Davis, David L., Whitney, Sarah and Albert Niven and Elizabeth and Ian Sangster. Mrs Niven was the great grandmother of Ethan, Tyler and Olivia Davis and Nyjah Niven. She was the sister of the late Eloise Levis and Virginia Sinclair and was the aunt of Linda Kammerer of Marblehead, Jack Sinclair of England and the late Jane Sargeant.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St. in Stoughton. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room at the church.

John Joseph Walsh
John Joseph Walsh, 86, of Stoughton, passed away October 25, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton while battling an infection.
Mr. Walsh was born September 22, 1926 in Boston to parents John Ignatius Walsh and Mary A (Quirk) Walsh and raised in Roxbury with his siblings Mary M. Walsh, Thomas Walsh, Patricia (Walsh) Peter, Joseph R Walsh, James K Walsh, Noreen (Walsh) Hardiman and David Walsh.
John leaves behind his loving wife Roberta A (Estella) Walsh "Cissy" whom he married September 22, 1957.
John graduated from Boys Trade High School before joining the Navy and serving on the USS Mt. McKinley. He was a dedicated employee for more than 10 years for Cumberland Farms in Canton. Before retiring John worked over 11 years behind the deli counter at Stop & Shop in Stoughton. John enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of Boston College. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing with his grandson Thomas.
John is survived by his son Richard Joseph Walsh and Richard's wife Phylliss "Sam" Bumpus-Walsh of FL His daughter Lynda Marie Walsh and Lynda's fiancee Scott Richard of Stoughton. Also his grandchildren Jason Alan Bumpus of FL, Justin Russell Bumpus and his wife Whitney Asbell Bumpus of TN and Thomas Joseph Walsh of Stoughton along with his great granddaughter Haley Marie Bumpus of TN.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Tuesday, October 30 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 a.m.. Visiting Hours will be Monday from 5-8 p.m.
Interment will take place at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Champion Center for the care of Retired Jesuits, 319 Concord Road., Weston, MA 02493-1398.

Florence M. "Bebe" (Frietas) Andrews
Florence M. "Bebe" (Frietas) Andrews, 78, of West Bridgewater, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Brockton Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of 59 years of Armand P. "Monty" Andrews.
Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, class of 1951.
Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, reading, shopping and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Daniel J. Andrews and his wife Kathy of Stoughton, Michael A. Andrews of FL and Bonnie Lynn Marshall and her husband Robby of Berkley. She was predeceased by her son Scott Andrews.
She was the grandmother of Michele Whitman, Dana Andrews and Laura O'Connell and the great grandmother of Brandon and Tori Whitman, Jameson Andrews and Aubrey O'Connell. Mrs. Andrews was the sister of June Wirzburger of Raynham and the late John Frietas, Rita Hall and Ann LaVigne.
Funeral was held from the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton on Friday, October 26. Interment was private.
