Gallery: Stoughton High Cross Country Competes in Hockomock Championships

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' cross country teams competed at the Hockomock League Championships last Saturday, Oct. 27, held at Borderland State Park in Easton.

The girls' team, led by Amy Kelly's 10th place individual finish, finished fifth overall among the 12 squads there, and second among Davenport Division teams.

Kelly, finished as one of the top runners in the Hockomock, and led the Stoughton girls at Borderland with a time of 20:08.

Kerry O'Neil finished in 12th place (20:15, a personal record); Shannon Barkey came in 33rd (21:35); Katie Daly came in 41st (21:55); Susanna Noe came in 48th (22:24); Carson McGrath came in 74th (23:33) and Rebekah Medina came in 87th (24:49).

Ariene Ohimor ran in the JV race with a time of 29:30 and Julia Bobeck ran in the freshmen race with a time of 25:30.

On the boys' side, six of the top seven on the SHS varsity team finished in under 20-minutes, led by Wayne Barnaby (18:08).

David Lockhart was only 12 seconds behind Barnaby, finishing in 18:20.

Alec DeNapoli was third on the team, finishing in 19:21. Luke Butera (19:30) and Jack D'Addieco (19:37) ran strong races in 4th and 5th position. It was D'Addieco's first sub 20-minute time in his fourth year running cross country. Jason Marshall (19:56) and Sean Ellertson (21:34) rounded out the varsity squad.

"As usual this meet was loaded with talent and the boys finished 11th out of 12 teams competing," boys' coach Harvey Blonder said. However, he added. "the team did avenge their one point loss to Canton," from the regular season with Canton finishing in 12th place.

Jonathan Oliveira (22:11) and Alex Smith (23:39) competed in the JV race.

And, Nick Quattrucci turned in another sub 20-minute time in the freshmen race, finishing in 10th spot overall with his 19:37 personal best.
