THE BEST THREE DOLLAR DINNER ANYWHERE! The Friends for Seniors held their Annual Christmas Dinner at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall on Saturday, December 1, and 300 grateful and very happy seniors enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner, with stuffing, baked potato, green beans, and a cake from Costco for dessert. The seniors got charged only a nominal $3 for the dinner, which also featured raffles.
The Friends for Seniors do a fundraiser each year to supplement the cost. The food was prepared by Mike Sammarco and the Sons of Italy Crew - Donald Interrante, Dennis Gada, Alan Veterosa, Steve Signori, Steve Bates, Phil Glynn, Chet Collins, Nancy Patterson, Jo-Ann Signori, and Brenda Lehan.
There were plenty of local officials in attendance, including Selectmen John Stagnone, John Anzivino and Cynthia Walsh; Interim Town Manager Joseph D. Feaster, Jr., Police Chief Paul Shastany, Fire Chief Mark Dolloff, and Council on Aging Director Karen Hall (accompanied by her son and daughter.)
Entertainment was provided by the very talented David Cuddy, who played electric piano and sang Christmas tunes. He does both very well. There was also a special appearance by Santa Claus (School Committee member Dr. Erdem Ural), who took time out from the master plan for Christmas to hand out candy canes.
Events like this require a LOT of work. Give kudos to the Friends for Seniors Board, featuring President Bob Mullen, Vice President Joe Araujo and Treasurer Florence Stearns. The Board also includes Alice Araujo, Jerry Capozzoli, Lee Lysko, Josephine "Josie" and Fred Sargent, Mike Sammarco, Dave Sheehan, Paul Stearns, Phyllis Tabbi, Steve Bates, Chet Collins, and Don Interrante.
The Friday night before the dinner, a number of Stoughton High National Honor Society students set up the hall. They included Kelsie LaFerriere, Niamh Fennessy, Brett Hoffman, Patrick Jackman, Benjamin Call, Destiny DeLarosa, Kevin McDonald, Nicole Kerman, Emma and Maddie Sinkus, Debora Lumene, Lisa Bontemps, Jacob Finer, Adam Lurie, and Alexa Ploss.
During the event, 22 National Honor Society students help serve all the courses, and cleaned all the tables. They included Kelsie LaFerriere, Emily Cramer, John Stewart-Racicot, Alex Peixinho, Sandra Khuu, Pat Jackman, Jess Flum, Ava Dubovy, Callie Concannon, Rachel Berkowsky, Debora Lumene, Holly Kaufman, Kassandra Mello, Corey Shore, Nicole Daniels, Dan Block, Amanda Glickman, Val Sammarco, Christina Solem, Ariana Hall, and Marie Maillet. They were aided by Life Teen student Matthew O'Connor.

TOYS FOR TOTS ANNUAL FUNDRAISER: The Capozzoli family will have their Annual Toys for Tots Event on Friday, December 14, starting at 7 p.m. at theVillage Pub, 1272 Washington Street on Rt. 138. They request that you bring unwrapped, non-violent toys that will be collected by the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.
This event usually results in truckloads for toys for needy children. The Capozzoli's make it a real special occasion. They serve an amazing home-cooked buffet, and have raffle prizes for their guests.
If you can't make it that night, you can drop off your Toys for Tot gifts at J &J Auto Body and The Village Pub, anytime they are open. The Pub opens at 4 p.m.
Other drop-off locations in Stoughton include Tom's Auto Body at 233 Canton Street; Vargas & Vargas Insurance at 4 Cabot Place, Unit # 9; and Eastern Bank at the corner of Washington and Central Streets.

THIS WREATH'S FOR YOU! On Saturday morning, December 1, Sullivan Tire on Route 138 gave out Christmas wreaths (they purchased 300 from Canada), coffee, hot chocolate and bakery items as they celebrated Christmas with their customers, and anyone who came in.
They set up in a tent in front of the store, and Tara Guinan and Jessica Coonan were handing out the goodies. Employees Fernando Cabral, Dan Dimaie, Jonathan Torres, Terry Mallory, Bob Parker, and Store Manager George Nash were also there to lend a hand.
Sullivan Tire is a member of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce.

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY: To Lucy Nankin of Stoughton and Stoughton's Larry Barbell, a Bentley College grad, who is on the Executive Board of Ahavath Torah Congregation. They celebrated Saturday; and toJoanne Cull, a Stoughton resident, who works for the U.S. District Court system; to Pat Gallant, who turned 28; and toBarbara Leaver, Administrative Assistant at Brockton Dialysis Center. Barbara is married to Paul Leaver, former Town Accountant in Stoughton. They all celebrated Sunday.
