5 Things, February 12: Stoughton School Committee to Discuss Security, Special Education

School Committee Meeting

The Stoughton School Committee meets in the TV studio at Stoughton High at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Among the topics of discussion: a security update from Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany and a presentation on the Special Education Department from Heather Tucker, administrator of special education. 

A public comment period is now on the agenda, giving members of the public an opportunity to comment to the Committee on issues that affect the school district and are within the scope of the Committee's responsibilities.

Snow Emergency Bus Stops

Snow emergency bus stops will be used Tuesday to provide students transportation who would normally walk to school, according to the Stoughton Public Schools website.

These stops are in addition to the regular stops. The responsibility for getting the students to these stops will remain with the parents and guardians, the Stoughton Public Schools website states.

Bingo Game at the Senior Center Canceled

Tuesday's weekly game of bingo at the Stoughton Senior Center has been canceled due to poor road conditions.

Reminder: Stoughton High Basketball Games Rescheduled 

As a result of school being closed in Stoughton and Canton on Monday, Stoughton High Athletic Director Ryan Donahue via twitter said the SHS boys' and girls' basketball games vs. Canton have been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday. Same times and locations. Boys at SHS and girls at Canton. Freshmen 3:30 p.m.; JV 5 p.m.; and Varsity 6:30 p.m.

Reminder: Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton

Stoughton resident Peg Carbone continues her effort to curb hunger in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.

Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."
