We know Stoughton residents don’t just stay in town when they want a night out and a break from cooking.

Restaurant coming and goings, new business and the best dishes and recipes are among the items that have appeared on Patch sites around the region over the last month.

Below is a look at the restaurant and food stories covered in the last month.

STOUGHTON

Stoughton Board of Selectmen Approves Licenses for Mediterranean and Thai Restaurants

In December, The Stoughton Board of Selectmen approved the common victualler licenses for a pair of new restaurants on Washington Street - Chicken Kebab, a Mediterranean/Turkish fast food style restaurant, and Rukmae, which will serve Thai cuisine.

Chicken Kebab will be located in the downtown at the former Kabob House location at 756 Washington St. in Stoughton, next to Olivio's. The Kabob House opened in the spring of 2010 but was forced to close when heavy snow collapsed the roof of the building next door back in January 2011, which subsequently caused damage to the Kabob House.

Signs are up for Chicken Kebab, which plans to open soon.

Meanwhile, Rukmae, which means "loving mom," will be located at 1778 Washington St. in a space at the Planet Fitness Plaza. It has a projected March 2013 opening.
