STOUGHTON TEMPLE EVENT CLOSED TO PRESS AND GENERAL PUBLIC: The Ahavath Torah Congregation's Irwin M. and H. Ethel Hausman Memorial Free Speech Speakers’ Series is bringing in a heavy hitter - but the event is closed to the press. Israel’s former Ambassador to the United Nations, Dore Gold, will speak at the 1179 Central Street Shul on Monday, January 28.
This is a closed dinner event, with Ambassador Gold giving a briefing on "The Rise of Nuclear Iran." Seating will be limited. Cost will be $250 per person for those who request seating with Dore Gold; $125 for those who wish to sit elsewhere. Funds raised will help Secure America Now to underwrite the cost of the Ambassador’s appearance.
Per Ambassador Dore Gold's instructions, no press or recording equipment will be allowed.
According to Rabbi Jonathan Hausman, who is bringing the Ambassador to Stoughton, "This is a very exciting program, one that does not ordinarily come to the greater Stoughton area."
Hausman says that Ambassador Dore Gold is a world renowned expert on Middle Eastern affairs, a best-selling author, and an accomplished diplomat.
Hausman writes, "During his career as the Prime Minister of Israel's Foreign Policy Adviser and later as Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr. Gold distinguished himself in negotiations with world leaders which included the President of the United States, the U.S. Secretary of State, and the British Foreign Secretary. He also served as a special envoy to the leaders of Arab states. Dr. Gold is continuously consulted by members of the governments of United States, the United Kingdom, and other Western Powers. He is often seen on news broadcasts sharing his views on world affairs."
Ambassador Gore last visited Boston in 2009, at which time he debated Justice Richard Goldstone, who led the UN Gaza Commission that charged Israel with war crimes in its handling of Operation Cast Lead in late 2008 and early 2009. It was the first time an Israeli confronted Goldstone directly with material that completely contradicted the charges he made against the State of Israel and undermined his main arguments. To date, Ambassador Gold is the only person to have personally confronted Justice Goldstone on the substance of his report.
It should be an interesting talk. It's too bad the press isn't being allowed to cover some of the important information that may be given to those in attendance. It's also a shame that no one is allowed to record the speech, so those that want to hear what is said have the chance, without having to depart with $125. If you would like to go, call 781-344-8733 for tickets.
Proceeds from the event will go to Secure America Now, which is sponsoring the Ambassador's appearance. SecureAmericaNow.org (SAN), is a 501(c) 4 issues advocacy social welfare organization dedicated to mobilizing a broad-based grassroots coalition of two million national security activists to support policies that will protect the United States against terrorist infiltration, attack, and capitulation to our enemies.
